The Firm has won Merger Control Matter of the Year – Americas at the Global Competition Review Awards 2026 and was the only firm at the 2026 Concurrences Writing Awards that was recognized for two recent publications wins in the Business Articles category.
Baker Botts’ recognition at the Global Competition Review Awards 2026 reflects the work done in advising UnitedHealth Group on its $3.3 billion acquisition of Amedisys, a leading provider of home healthcare services in the U.S. The winning matter’s successful defense before the DOJ and the strategic management of the divestiture process were pivotal in securing a settlement that allowed the deal to close.
The DOJ investigation examined competition issues in the home healthcare and hospice industries across dozens of local geographies. The divestiture of 164 facilities across 19 states ensured that the deal could proceed while maintaining competition and service quality.
