Chad Walters is co-chair of the firm's PTAB Trials Practice. His practice includes all aspects of intellectual property law, with a particular emphasis on patent post-grant trials, patent litigation, and patent portfolio development and management.
Mr. Walters has extensive experience in front of the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), where he has led over 200 post-grant proceedings representing both petitioners and patent owners. He has led inter partes review (IPR) campaigns on behalf of petitioners invalidating hundreds of patent claims, including those forming the basis of multi-million dollar jury verdicts, and has successfully defended validity of patent claims for patent owners to enable cases to proceed to district court trial.
In federal courts in Texas and across the country, Mr. Walters litigates patent disputes relating to a range of technologies, from complex software and telecommunications networking and applications to mechanical devices. He represents both companies seeking to enforce their intellectual property rights and those accused of infringement.
Mr. Walters helps clients of all sizes identify, develop, and protect their intellectual property assets. He has developed patent portfolios in a broad spectrum of technologies, including telecommunications, semiconductors, software, optical networks, oil and gas production, medical equipment, wireless components, and the mechanical arts. He has also prepared and negotiated various licensing and technology transfer agreements for clients seeking to attain value from and leverage their intellectual property portfolios.
