Overview

Ignacio E. Beheran is skilled in banking, corporate, and finance law, bringing a wealth of international experience to his practice. His work covers a broad range of derivatives and international capital markets transactions. Ignacio has extensive experience with ISDA Master Agreements, including the negotiation and drafting of Schedules and related ISDA documents.

Ignacio has also been involved in emerging market sovereign restructurings, representing Ghana in its external bond restructuring in 2024 and the dealer-manager in the 2024 Sri Lanka restructuring.

Before that, he spent over a decade as an Attorney in the Department of Legal Affairs and Control at the Central Bank of Argentina, gaining extensive experience in complex financial transactions, including debt refinancing, bankruptcies, and restructurings.

Ignacio earned his LL.M. in Banking, Corporate, and Finance Law from Fordham University School of Law, graduating with magna cum laude honors. He also holds a JD and a Master of Finance from Torcuato Di Tella University in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Complementing his legal education, he has garnered numerous certifications in areas crucial to his practice, including financial accounting, risk management, compliance, and fraud.

Experience

  • The Republic of Ghana in its exchange offers and consent solicitations in connection with its approximately US$13bn+ Eurobonds (15 series) in the context of its sovereign debt restructuring.
  • Advised a well renowned global commodities merchant on a US$2.5 billion revolving bank facility. The Facility consists of a US$1.5 billion three-year committed tranche and a US$1 billion one-year uncommitted tranche. Additionally, the Facility has a US$700 million accordion feature.
  • Advised a Central America Corporation on its successful consent solicitation to implement certain amendments to the indenture governing the Co-Issuers’ outstanding 5.250% Senior Guaranteed Sustainability-Linked Notes due 2029.
  • Advised Dealer-Manager in the restructuring of the debt of Sri Lanka.
