Overview

Alhassane Barry is a Partner in Baker Botts' Global Projects practice, splitting his time between London and Dubai, and the Global Head of Mining and Metals (Non-U.S.). He specialises in the development and financing of large-scale projects across the energy, mining and metals, oil and gas and natural resources sectors. Drawing on extensive experience across the Middle East, Asia, and Africa, he provides strategic advice to a broad spectrum of clients, including sponsors and developers as well as lenders (including Export credit agencies, development finance institutions and commercial banks), equity investors and public sector entities.

Alhassane is recognized by leading legal directories, including Chambers and Partners. He is multilingual, fluent in French, English, Fulani, Sussu, and Mandingo. He is admitted to bars in New York and Paris and is a Registered Foreign lawyer with the SRA in England and Wales.

  • Access LNG – the lenders (including EAIF, AfDB and other DFIs) on the financing to Access LNG B.V., a provider of specialist floating LNG infrastructure, to support the construction of a new Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) storage and regasification facility at Tema port in Ghana
  • Saudi Aramco Gas Distribution Network (Project Saturn) (KSA) – the staple lenders on the financing of the acquisition of 49% of Saudi Aramco gas pipelines distribution business
  • Saudi Aramco Oil Distribution Network (Project Pearl) (KSA) – Hassana on their bid to acquire 49% of Saudi Aramco crude oil pipelines distribution business
