Baker Botts Wins Cancellation of Removal for Honduran Client in Pro Bono Representation
Baker Botts associates Lori Ding (Houston, IP) and Laura Natchev (Houston, IP), with support from Houston Information Governance Specialist Isabel Martinez, successfully represented a Honduran client in immigration proceedings. The client sought relief after facing persecution in Honduras and abuse by his former spouse in the United States.
Following the client’s March 2026 merits hearing before the San Antonio Immigration Court, the Immigration Judge granted cancellation of removal under the Violence Against Women Act and withholding of removal, relying on the client’s testimony, expert reports, and a strong evidentiary record.
Special thanks to Edna Yang of American Gateways for her invaluable mentorship throughout the case.
