Baker Botts Advises Pembina on 20-Year LNG Capacity Agreement with PETRONAS Supporting US $4 Billion Project
HOUSTON – November 5, 2025 – Baker Botts L.L.P., a leading international energy, technology, and life sciences law firm, advised Pembina Pipeline Corporation (TSX: PPL; NYSE: PBA) on a 20-year liquefaction capacity agreement with PETRONAS for 1.0 million tonnes per annum at Pembina's Cedar LNG facility in British Columbia.
The synthetic liquefaction service agreement supports the US$4 billion Cedar LNG project, a partnership between Pembina and the Haisla Nation designed to be one of the lowest carbon intensity LNG facilities in the world. Under the agreement, Pembina will provide transportation and liquefaction capacity to PETRONAS LNG Ltd through a take-or-pay structure over the 20-year term. The arrangement provides Pembina with stable long-term revenue while enabling PETRONAS to access Canadian natural gas export capacity for Asian markets.
The agreement follows several other large-scale LNG projects and agreements for Baker Botts’ Global Projects department, including a $14 billion LNG expansion and a separate 20-year LNG sale and purchase agreement, both in the US Gulf Coast.
