Baker Botts Represents CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric, LLC in $900 Million General Mortgage Bond Offering, Including Inaugural Green Bond Tranche Supporting CenterPoint Energy, Inc.'s Net-Zero Emissions Goals
Deal Description: March 23 – CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric, LLC (“CEHE”), an indirect, wholly-owned subsidiary of CenterPoint Energy, Inc. (NYSE: CNP) (“CenterPoint Energy”), announced the closing of its underwritten public offering of $900 million aggregate principal amount of general mortgage bonds comprised of $600 million aggregate principal amount of 4.95% General Mortgage Bonds, Series AK, due 2033 and $300 million aggregate principal amount of 5.30% General Mortgage Bonds, Series AL, due 2053.
CEHE intends to use the net proceeds from the offering of the Series AK mortgage bonds for general limited liability company purposes, including capital expenditures, working capital and the repayment of all or a portion of its borrowings under the CenterPoint Energy money pool. CEHE intends to disburse or allocate an amount equal to the net proceeds from the offering of the Series AL mortgage bonds to finance or refinance, in part or in full, new or existing projects relating to renewable energy, green buildings or cleaner transportation. CEHE anticipates that the use of net proceeds from the offering of the Series AL mortgage bonds will be in alignment with the four core components of the Green Bond Principles 2021 published by the International Capital Market Association.
