Former Federal Prosecutor Joins Baker Botts in San Francisco

He will also serve as chair of litigation for the San Francisco office.
Matt Jacobs is a former federal prosecutor with nearly two decades of experience representing public company boards, executives, and businesses in anti-corruption, fraud, and government investigations. Renowned for his expertise in complex white-collar matters, cross-border investigations, and high-profile cases, Jacobs has established a formidable reputation for managing issues that significantly impact reputation and business operations. While in private practice, he has represented leading technology, financial services, energy, and healthcare companies, as well as their executives, in some of the most consequential white-collar and cross-border cases.

Before joining private practice, Jacobs served as a federal prosecutor at the U.S. Department of Justice, where he co-led the prosecution of Enron’s energy traders, earning the FBI Director’s Award. He also received a Director’s Award for prosecuting a medical device manufacturer over a faulty heart stent. His cases have spanned securities, healthcare, insurance, energy, technology, money laundering, and cross-border investigations.
