Kassia Pletscher is an Associate in the Antitrust & Competition law practice in Baker Botts’ London office. Her practice focuses on all aspects of EU and UK competition law, including mergers and acquisitions, abuse of dominance, cartels investigations and competition litigation. She has experience coordinating international merger control filings across a range of jurisdictions, as well as foreign direct investment and subsidy control. She has represented clients before the CMA in relation to abuse of dominance proceedings, and before the Competition Appeal Tribunal in a high-profile follow-on claim under the UK’s class action regime.
Kassia holds a bachelor’s degree in law from the University of Oxford. She was called to the bar in England and Wales in 2016, and fully qualified as a barrister following completion of pupillage in 2019. She obtained Postgraduate Diplomas in Consumer Law and EU Competition Law in 2022 and 2023 respectively.
Prior to joining Baker Botts, Kassia worked as a legal adviser at the CMA, where she gained experience across a variety of Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 enforcement investigations, as well as in consumer protection. From 2018-2021, she maintained a busy practice as a self-employed barrister, covering a range of practice areas including criminal law, local authority, and financial regulation.
