Overview

Salma Mowlid is an Associate in the Global Projects practice. Salma's practice focuses on a variety of different finance products such as project finance, export credit agency backed finance, asset finance, debt capital markets and general corporate finance, including both conventional and Islamic finance, across Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

Prior to joining the firm, Salma practiced in the London and Dubai offices of a leading international law firm as an associate in the Global Financial Markets practice, where she advised government authorities, sponsors and a range of financial institutions and corporates on diverse financing transactions.

Salma also completed a nine-month secondment with a leading international financial institution in Dubai where she worked closely with the corporate finance team. Salma is fluent in English and Somali, has intermediate proficiency in Arabic, and is a Solicitor in England and Wales.

  • Advising the lenders in connection with EDF's bid for the Group 1 BESS Projects in Saudi Arabia procured by The Ministry of Energy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (acting through the Saudi Power Procurement Company).*
  • Advising the lenders to Emirates Utilities Development Company, Korea Electric Power Corporation and NESMA in respect of its bid for the SPPC6 Solar Projects Round 6 of the Renewable Energy Program in Saudi Arabia procured by The Ministry of Energy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (acting through the Saudi Power Procurement Company).*
  • Advising the lenders to the Masdar and Beeah JV in respect of the UAE’s first waste to energy project in Sharjah.*
  • Advising the lenders to the EDF 500MW Manah Solar IPP in Oman.*
  • Advising the lenders to the Masdar, EDF and Nesma consortium in connection with their successful bid and subsequent development and financing of the 300MW Jeddah PV IPP Project in Saudi Arabia.*
  • Advising the lenders to the Masdar, EDF and Nesma consortium in connection with their successful bid and subsequent development and financing of the 1.4GW Al Heynikah PV IPP Project in Saudi Arabia.*
  • Advising the sponsors in connection with their successful bid and subsequent development and financing of the Tanajib IWSPP procured by Saudi Aramco in Saudi Arabia. This deal subsequently won MENA Power Deal of the Year 2021, IJGlobal MENA Awards 2021.*
  • Advising the lenders in respect of the 250 MW Solar Photovoltaic Electric Power Generation Plant and a 63MW battery energy storage system, with associated interconnection electrical facilities, located in the Bukhara region of Uzbekistan.*
  • Advising the sponsors in respect of the Facility E IWPP 2,600MW gas fired power and water plant project in Qatar.*
  • Advising a consortium of lenders in relation to a US$75 million and €21 million facilities agreement and the release and registration of security across four free zone authorities across the UAE.*
  • Advising FAB and SACE on a SACE supported murabaha facility to Arada Developments LLC.*
  • Advising ENBD on various corporate financing extended to Emirates Airlines.*
  • Advising a global aviation services company in connection with multiple aircraft portfolio sales and related novations.*
