Dr. Alex Li advises clients around the world on intellectual property matters at the intersection of law, science, and business strategy.

Dr. Li’s practice spans the full life cycle of patents and includes developing and executing global patent strategies that align with the business objectives at each stage of product commercialization, including issues specific to pharmaceutical products.

In litigation matters, Dr. Li has represented emerging companies and multinational corporations in patent and trade secret disputes in district courts and before the International Trade Commission (ITC).  His experience also includes inter partes reviews and patent appeals before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), as well as patent matters before foreign forums (via qualified foreign counsel).

Dr. Li has particular experience in the chemical, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, and semiconductor sectors. In assisting clients, he draws on significant scientific knowledge and research experience. Dr. Li has authored numerous peer-reviewed scientific publications in areas including asymmetric organocatalysis, computational molecular modeling, and quantum dots. He is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
