With nearly 20 years of experience, Justine Gozzi navigates clients through corporate and IP legal issues, runs point on technology transactions, and manages worldwide patent portfolios- both design and utility.
Trusted IP strategist and dealmaker with experience guiding technology, product, and consumer brands through the full IP lifecycle. Justine counsels clients on high stakes corporate and IP matters and leads complex technology transactions, including sophisticated license back structures and cross border IP arrangements. She drafts and negotiates mission critical agreements, and advises on commercialization, freedom to operate, patentability, due diligence, and licensing across industries where engineering rigor and legal precision both matter.
Full spectrum IP and transactions experience. Drawing on a broad engineering background, Justine helps clients patent, protect, and monetize innovations—utility and design—spanning mechanical systems, medical devices, biotechnology, electrical products, pharmaceuticals, and business methods. Her practice covers global portfolio strategy and management, patent prosecution, licensing, M&A support, and litigation, including design patent disputes and Inter Partes Review proceedings. She regularly advises on Orange Book and Hatch Waxman issues and supports pharmaceutical clients through product lifecycles and market entry strategies. Her experience also includes antitrust considerations and ITC matters that intersect with complex IP assets and supply chains.
Client focused, outcome driven. Whether building defensible portfolios, de-risking deals, or accelerating product launches, Justine brings clarity, commercial pragmatism, and technical fluency to each engagement—aligning IP strategy to business objectives and negotiating leverage.
Leadership and community. A longtime advocate for diversity in the profession, Justine serves as a Trustee Board Member of the IP Law Foundation and is active in AIPLA's Women in IP and Diversity Committees, including serving as a past Chair of the AIPLA Diversity Committee. Committed to public service, she has volunteered monthly with the New York City Bar Association's Monday Night Legal Clinic for over a decade, providing counsel to more than 100 community members, and represents children in immigration and custody matters.
