Baker Botts Earns ‘Energy Practice Group of the Year’ and ‘Environmental Practice Group of the Year’ Accolades from Law360

Release

HOUSTON, January 18, 2022 - Baker Botts L.L.P., a leading international energy, technology and life sciences law firm, announced today that Law360 has recognized the firm’s Energy practice and its Environmental, Safety, and Incident Response Group (ESIR), each of which were named “Practice Groups of the Year” by the publication.

This is the third year in a row that Baker Botts has been named an Energy Practice Group of the Year by Law360. Even in the midst of rapid changes that have pushed energy companies to adapt to new priorities for decarbonization and electrification and heightened focus on ESG, the firm remains the preeminent energy law firm, advising clients globally across the energy value chain.

Baker Botts continues to embrace an “all-in” approach that serves clients in the traditional oil and gas/LNG industry, as well as in renewable, conventional and retail power generation, distribution and storage, lower carbon fuels (including renewable natural gas and biofuels), hydrogen, carbon offsets and trading, lower-carbon and carbon-neutral LNG, carbon capture utilization and storage (CCUS), and energy technology.

The firm has also been named an Environmental Practice Group of the Year by Law360. Baker Botts has one of the largest full-service practices in the country, with 49 practitioners across the United States. Over the past year, the group has also deepened its impressive team with a number of notable hires.

The firm’s ESIR lawyers have been at the forefront of helping clients respond to major incidents; significant litigation and regulatory appeals; criminal and civil enforcement actions; crucial regulatory analyses and advocacy; and major permitting projects. Baker Botts also continues to serve as the Court Appointed Monitor for the largest and most complex maritime monitorships in history. In addition, in response to the Biden Administration’s heightened focus on environmental justice, Baker Botts developed the ACELAS (Acknowledge, Commit, Engage, Learn, Act and Share) framework to help clients evaluate the legal, regulatory, and policy issues raised by increased consideration of environmental justice in permitting, enforcement and litigation proceedings.
