The Palo Alto office of Baker Botts seeks a litigation associate with 2-5 years experience. Must be licensed to practice law in the state of California. Experience in litigation is required, with experience in patent litigation strongly preferred. A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science or equivalent (such as a mechanical engineering degree with strong background in computer science) is preferred, though not required. Candidates must be interested in developing a practice focused heavily on patent litigation. Must have excellent academic credentials.

Oil & Gas Associate (3-5 yr pqe) |
The Role:
To support Global Project partners across the firm’s international and U.S. office network in a range of energy projects and transactional matters, with particular emphasis on upstream and midstream oil and gas.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2:1 degree from a leading UK university or equivalent for non UK
- UK qualified lawyer, having passed all Law Society professional examinations at the first attempt
- Pre-qualification training at a leading City law firm or experience at a reputable energy practice, including in-house or major energy company
Preferred Experience: Experience in some or all of the following areas is required. As a minimum the candidate must have a strong grounding in the oil and gas industry and would ideally have energy projects experience:
- Upstream Contracts
- UK Petroleum Licensing
- Joint Operating Agreements
- Farm-out Agreements
- Oil and Gas Sale, Marketing and Transportation Processing Agreements
- Unitisation Agreements
- Product Sharing Contracts
- LNG Sales Marketing Project development
- Assets and corporate acquisition and disposal
Essential Qualities:
- Needs to bring a balance between demonstrably strong core legal skills and an understanding of clients’ commercial priorities
- This role requires travel

The Role: Providing support to legal professionals, to assist in delivering high-quality legal services to clients in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
General Duties:
- Conduct legal research on wide range of topics
- Review and draft memoranda, legal documents and client correspondence
- Review and proof read documents
- Assisting in the preparation of marketing and presentation materials
- Assist with due diligence, including the preparation of due diligence reports
Requirements:
- Bachelor or Master degree in Law; graduated from reputable first-class national universities
- Excellent spoken and written English skills
- At least one year of relevant legal experience
- Ability to interact professionally with clients, lawyers and staff at all levels
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work under time pressure
- In depth knowledge of legal terminology and principles of commercial and corporate law
- Ability to perform legal research independently
- Ability to analyze legal documents for accuracy
- Strong team player with self-motivation and initiative
- Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
