Chad Sillman focuses on U.S. federal income tax matters working with corporations, partnerships, joint ventures, and alternative investment structures on domestic and cross-border transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and oil and gas taxation. Chad's practice has an energy industry focus, including taxation of climate and clean energy initiatives. Chad advises clients on the section 45Q federal tax credit for carbon capture, use and sequestration, as well as federal tax credits for the production of clean hydrogen under section 45V.
Prior to joining Baker Botts, Mr. Sillman gained valuable industry experience as a Senior Tax Attorney at Exxon Mobil Corporation. He began his legal career as a Senior Tax Associate at Ernst & Young LLP in Houston, Texas focusing on mergers and acquisitions tax.
