Harrison Rich helps companies navigate complex, high-stakes patent infringement disputes. Harrison's patent litigation experience spans from competitor cases to defending against non-practicing entities, and he has represented both patent owners and accused infringers in connection to cases resulting in favorable outcomes. Harrison has litigated in many of the country's most popular patent venues, including the Eastern District of Texas, Northern District of California, District of Delaware, and Northern District of Texas. He has experience handling all phases of a case, including pre-suit investigations through trial. Most recently, Harrison helped a global network security company through a complex set of patent infringement cases and co-pending inter partes reviews.

Harrison has managed, prepared, and defended against several inter partes reviews, all of which involved co-pending district court cases. His most recent experience involved preparing five inter partes review petitions covering all asserted claims from a patent with over 100 claims.

Harrison's litigation experience has helped him gain familiarity with cutting-edge legal issues. He has developed substantial experience on fair, reasonable, and non-discriminatory (FRAND), post-Berkheimer patent eligibility issues, and inter partes review estoppel, with particular experience litigating FRAND counterclaims and defenses, including breach of contract and antitrust claims.

Harrison's practice also includes helping companies develop their patent portfolios, as he has years of experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications, including both utility and design patent applications. Having prosecuted cases in Canada, Brazil, Europe, China, and India, Harrison is proficient in assisting companies through complex foreign prosecution.

Harrison's experience covers a wide range of technologies, including telecommunications, network security, network devices, and aerospace.

Before becoming a lawyer, Harrison held engineering co-op positions at Marathon Petroleum and General Electric. While at Marathon Petroleum, he gained familiarity with various aspects of the refining process, including piping systems, heat exchangers, pumps, fractionators, flares and cokers. At General Electric, Harrison worked on various consumer appliances.

Outside of work, Harrison enjoys spending time with his young children. When he is not chasing around his kids, Harrison is a frequent distance runner, cyclist, devout Louisville Cardinal fan, and amateur cook.
