Erik Perez focuses his practice on intellectual property litigation, particularly patent and trade secret disputes. He represents clients in cases involving a wide range of technologies, including software, mechanical devices, and circuits.
Before joining Baker Botts, Erik served as a law clerk to Magistrate Judge Peter H. Kang of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. He also gained experience in the chambers of Judge Susan Illston of the Northern District of California and Presiding Justice Mary J. Greenwood of the Sixth District Court of Appeal. In those roles, he worked extensively on dispositive motions, discovery matters, settlement conferences, and appellate issues, gaining valuable insight into both trial and appellate practice.
Erik also previously practiced in intellectual property litigation at a global law firm, advising clients on complex disputes across multiple industries. A first-generation professional, Erik studied chemistry and pure mathematics during his undergraduate career before earning his J.D. He is admitted to the State Bar of California and the Northern District of California.
