Overview

Alexander Lee's practice is focused on the energy and infrastructure sectors. Alexander has advisory and transactional experience in project development, project finance, cross border M&A, engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts and general corporate work.

Alexander has represented clients on projects involving renewable energy, sustainable aviation fuel, low-carbon hydrogen, and other emerging technologies, as well as conventional power and oil and gas.

Experience

  • Affiliates of Global Infrastructure Partners in the acquisition of a 50 percent interest in the multi-billion dollar South Fork and Revolution Offshore Wind Projects off the East coast of the United States from Eversource Energy, including the negotiation of the joint venture arrangements with Orsted for the construction and operation of the projects (IJInvestor Joint Venture of the Year, 2024).
  • Uzbekistan GTL on the construction, development and financing of a $3.6 billion gas to liquids project in the Kashkadarya Region, close to Karshi, in the Republic of Uzbekistan.
  • STAR Rafineri A.Ş. a subsidiary of the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and its sponsors on the development and financing of a $6.3 billion greenfield oil refinery in Turkey on the Aegean Sea.
  • A joint venture among Korean Gas Corp (KOGAS), Lotte Chemical, STX Energy, and Uzbekneftegas, on the development of the approximately $3.9 billion Surgil gas to petrochemicals project and the Asian Development Bank, KEXIM, and KSure-led financing thereof.
  • Equinor (formerly Statoil) on the sale of its Nigerian subsidiary, including its share in the giant Agbami oil field (Nigeria’s largest deep-water field), to Chappal Energies for a total value of up to $1.2 billion, including a purchase price of $710 million and additional contingent payments.
  • 8 Rivers Capital in the development of the Cormorant Clean Energy Project, an ultra-low-carbon ammonia production facility in Port Arthur, Texas, which will be powered by 8 Rivers’ proprietary 8RH2 hydrogen process.
  • OCI Global in all aspects of the development, and subsequent $2.35 billion sale, of its equity interests in a clean ammonia project under construction in Beaumont, Texas to Woodside Energy Group.
