Trista LaCour focuses on patent application preparation and patent prosecution and counseling in the technology, software, healthcare, and life sciences industries.

Trista's technical knowledge spans a wide range of technology areas, including deep neural networks, supervised machine-learning, self-supervised machine-learning, transformers, natural language processing (NLP), semantic segmentation, and computer vision as applied to healthcare, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, consumer electronics, and software industries, medical devices, quantum computing algorithms, quantum machine-learning, quantum-enhanced machine-learning, quantum memory design and fabrication, quantum processor design, virtual-reality (VR), augmented-reality (AR), and mixed-reality (MR) devices and applications, Web-based services, Cloud and Fog computing, Internet-of-Things (IoT), payment systems and services, RF wireless, fiber optical, and free-space optical communication networks, and autonomous vehicles (AVs), among various other software and hardware technologies.

Trista has extensive experience handling all aspects of patent preparation and prosecution, including drafting patent applications, responding to U.S. and foreign Office Actions, Notice of Allowance reviews, U.S. and foreign examiner interviews, ex parte pre-appeal and appeal brief preparation, continuing application preparation, prior art searches, Patent Cooperation Treaty filings, patent mining, freedom-to-operate (FTO) analyses, patent landscape analyses, and patentability opinions. She counsels clients, including Fortune 100 companies, mid-size companies, and startups, regarding patent preparation and prosecution strategies, patent portfolio management, and patent landscaping.

Trista earned her B.S. in electrical and computer engineering at Texas A&M University. She was an undergraduate research scholar at the Power System Automation Laboratory where she researched the impact of large DG sources and smart meters to distribution systems as well as performed synthesis and design for efficient multiple constant multiplier circuits. As an undergraduate, Trista also completed three full-time cooperative tours with Jacobs Engineering, CenterPoint Energy, and LyondellBasell, performing system-level design and testing of power electronic devices and instrumentation for various industrial applications.
