Dr. Sam Kwiatkowski is a Patent Agent in the Intellectual Property practice of the firm’s Houston office. His technical experience is in biochemistry, genetics, cell biology, molecular biology, and forensic science. Sam assists in the preparation and prosecution of patents, intellectual property due diligence with respect to life science technologies.

Prior to joining Baker Botts, Sam was a Method Development and Validation Coordinator with the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. His work focused on research and validation of methods utilized by forensic genetics laboratories for the purpose of human identification, including high-throughput workflows for processing biological materials and statistical analysis. Sam received his postdoctoral training at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center where he studied the progression of the malignant brain cancer Glioblastoma Multiforme and molecular mechanisms that promote aggressive recurrence following therapeutic treatment. As a graduate student, Sam studied mechanisms for blood vessel formation during embryonic development and characterized factors that govern vascular patterning during organogenesis of the eye.

Sam has published his findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals and has presented at national and international conferences.
