Overview

Michael Kachmarik is an IP litigator in Baker Botts’ Washington, D.C. office. His practice covers intellectual property litigation and patent prosecution. Michael has litigated technologies including sports wagering, video streaming, toner ink cartridges, and LCD televisions. His practice focuses on litigation before the International Trade Commission (ITC) and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). Michael has assisted in the prosecution of medical devices, both domestically and internationally.

Prior to joining Baker Botts, Michael worked as a patent examiner at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). While at the USPTO, Michael examined U.S. applications in the field of metal materials. Key areas included metal compositions and additive manufacturing.

Michael's pro bono practice includes representing underserved families seeking asylum in the United States.

In law school Michael focused his scholarship on the changing landscape of remedies for intellectual property rights violations and Standard Essential Patent (SEP) litigation.
