Katie Jeffress develops legal strategies for complex environmental matters. For new projects, Katie helps clients secure permits and navigate water, air, and waste laws. For existing projects, she provides compliance support and guides clients through environmental litigation and enforcement cases.

Katie's experience includes major water-supply projects, including desalination, groundwater, and surface-water planning. She litigates in state and federal courts and frequently appears before the Texas State Office of Administrative Hearings. She loves helping clients think through long-term strategies and complicated regulatory issues.

Before joining Baker Botts, Katie clerked for two years in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas. She spent a year in Jalisco, Mexico working in environmental education and twice interned with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. In addition to her environmental work, she maintains an active pro bono practice and works with several Austin-area non-profits that provide low or no-cost legal services.
