Kelly Hanen is a trial attorney and crisis management professional who represents clients in a broad range of complex litigation matters, including commercial disputes, energy and securities litigation, personal injury, construction, and property damage claims.
Kelly has experience in all stages of litigation starting with the filing of or answering a lawsuit, the handling of all phases of discovery, the drafting of and arguing both dispositive and non-dispositive motions, and representing her clients throughout trial and in post-trial proceedings.
Ms. Hanen regularly counsels clients in the chemical and energy industries on matters involving major industrial accidents, crisis response, process safety incidents and workplace fatalities. In this capacity, Kelly has represented clients in high stakes investigations by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), the Chemical Safety Board (CSB), the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), and other national and state agencies.
Kelly is also a highly visible member of Houston's legal community. She presently serves as the President of the Houston Young Lawyers Association. Ms. Hanen is also Co-Chair of the University of Texas School of Law Class of 2016. Kelly has also served on the board of Houston Volunteer Lawyers.
Before joining Baker Botts, Ms. Hanen graduated cum laude at both Dartmouth College and at Texas Law.
