Matthew is a registered Patent Agent focused on intellectual property due diligence, patent prosecution, and litigation support.
Matthew leverages more than seven years as a Patent Examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, having issued nearly 200 patents. He has extensive prosecution experience, particularly in medical devices where he practiced as an Examiner. His docket at USPTO included catheters, insulin pumps, sensors, algorithms, autoinjectors and other devices.
His examination process concentrated on claim construction, targeted search strategies, §112 issues and patent quality. Matthew was rated outstanding by USPTO management in production and docket management during his career, and received a letter of accolade from the Director of the Office of Patent Quality Assurance (OPQA). He also served on the Board of the Patent and Trademark Office Society (PTOS).
Previously, Matthew conducted research at the National Synchrotron Light Source at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) on protein crystallography and high-throughput drug screening, where he published in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
During graduate school, Matthew completed an internship in the Intellectual Property department of a global pharmaceutical company, and worked as a startup consultant.
