Dr. Mason Tom Chin is a Patent Agent in the Intellectual Property practice of the firm's New York office. His technical experience is in organic chemistry, synthetic chemistry, polymer chemistry, and sustainable chemistry. Mason focuses on patent prosecution, due diligence, and litigation support.

Prior to joining Baker Botts, Mason completed his doctoral research at New York University. His work focused on the development and implementation of organometallic catalysts to upcycle biomass waste into valuable chemicals, as well as the development of recyclable plastics that can be chemically recycled into raw materials under sustainable conditions. Additionally, Mason has research experience exploring the use of organic and organometallic photocatalysts to promote the reductive coupling between CO₂ and alkene acceptors.

Mason has published his findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals and has presented at regional and national conferences.
