Baker Botts Strengthens Global LNG Practice with London Addition
LONDON, August 24, 2026 – Baker Botts L.L.P., a leading international energy, technology, and life sciences law firm, has welcomed Caroline McDonald as Special Counsel in its London office, strengthening the Firm’s ability to advise clients on complex LNG projects and transactions across key global markets.
Relocating from Houston, McDonald joins Baker Botts from White & Case and previously practiced at Vinson & Elkins. She advises governments, project developers, sponsors and investors on some of the most complex LNG and energy projects in the U.S. and internationally. Her work spans project development, structuring, commercial contracting (including LNG sale and purchase agreements), financing and investment across multiple jurisdictions and stages of the project lifecycle. McDonald has advised developers and investors of significant projects, including Atlantic LNG, Lake Charles LNG and Port Arthur LNG Phase 2, as well as a range of complex energy developments.
McDonald joins several former colleagues in a London office that has expanded significantly across complementary practices. In 2025, Baker Botts welcomed 13 lawyers from White & Case and Vinson & Elkins in London, adding to the office’s capabilities in project finance, energy M&A, energy transactions and aviation finance.
“The scale of investment in LNG is creating a significant opportunity to build on Baker Botts’ leadership in the market,” said Danny David, Managing Partner of Baker Botts. "Energy has been at the heart of our firm for more than a century, and we have been part of the LNG industry’s development for more than five decades. We are building on that market advantage globally through continued investment in London, and Caroline’s international project experience further solidifies our leadership position in the sector."
David Jetter, Global Head of LNG at Baker Botts, added: “With U.S. exports expanding alongside new projects in other markets, commercial positioning will become increasingly important. Caroline has worked across some of the largest and most complex LNG projects in the U.S. and internationally, bringing experience that complements the firm's cross-border practice and meets the growing market demands."
“Baker Botts brings together deep LNG experience and the transactional capabilities required to move complex projects forward,” said McDonald. “The opportunity to work with colleagues in London, Houston, and across the firm on projects that span markets and jurisdictions is especially exciting. I am looking forward to adding to the continued growth of the practice.”
The Firm’s LNG group has advised on more than 120 significant transactions in more than 30 countries. Its recent work includes Port Arthur LNG Phase 2 and Commonwealth LNG as well as Ksi Lisims LNG’s long-term agreement with Uniper to supply LNG from Canada to Germany.
