Baker Botts Transaction Wins Debut SSA Bond Deal of the Year at Global Banking & Markets Awards: CEE, Central Asia & Türkiye 2025
LONDON, 27 November 2025 – Baker Botts L.L.P., a leading international energy, technology, and life sciences law firm, has been awarded Debut SSA Bond Deal of the Year at The Global Banking & Markets Awards 2025, recognizing the firm’s role in advising the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina on its landmark debut Eurobond issuance.
The firm acted as English and U.S. counsel to the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, represented by the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina acting through the Federal Ministry of Finance, on the issuance of its €350 million Notes due 2030, which closed in July 2025. The transaction marked the Federation’s debut entry into the international capital markets and a significant milestone in its sovereign financing strategy. The Notes were listed on the Main Market of the London Stock Exchange, with Deutsche Bank Aktiengesellschaft, Merrill Lynch International, and UniCredit Bank d.d. acting as Joint Lead Managers.
The winning team included London-based partners Patrick Lyons and Jennifer Rees, and senior associate Amy Rees. The awards also recognized client Eastern European Electric Company with Deal of the Year – Bulgaria, a transaction the team advised on while at their previous firm.
