Partner Bill Kroger Named Chancellor of the United Methodist Church Texas Annual Conference

HOUSTON, June 7, 2023 - At the 55th Annual Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church last week, Bishop Cynthia Harvey nominated Bill Kroger to be the next Chancellor of the Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.

The United Methodist Church is divided into conferences across the United States. More than 400 delegates approved Bill’s appointment as Chancellor, where he will serve as the legal advisor to and lawyer for Bishop Harvey and the Conference on a pro bono basis.

Bill serves as Co-Chair of Baker Botts’ Energy Pillar and the Energy Litigation Practice Group. He also serves as General Counsel of the Cullen Trust for the Performing Arts and on the Board of Directors of Communities in Schools Houston, in a pro bono basis. He previously served as President of the Houston Bar Association from 2020-21, and is a current director of the State Bar of Texas.

Bill is a fifth-generation Methodist. He and his family attend Chapelwood United Methodist Church.
