Danny David Elected as 16th Managing Partner of Baker Botts
HOUSTON, June 16, 2023 - Baker Botts L.L.P., a leading international energy, technology and life sciences law firm, today announced that Danny David has been elected as the firm's 16th Managing Partner. His four-year term will commence on August 1, 2023.
Mr. David, who has spent his entire 22-plus year legal career at Baker Botts, has served as Co-Chair of the firm's Litigation Department for the last three-and-a-half years and is a member of the firm's Executive Committee. Mr. David routinely represents companies and their officers and directors in securities class actions, fiduciary duty lawsuits, and suits challenging mergers, and he has served as lead trial counsel in complex civil litigation in courts across the nation. Prior to joining Baker Botts in 2001, Mr. David served as an associate at McKinsey & Co. He earned an A.B. from Princeton University in 1997 and a J.D. from Harvard Law School in 2000.

Mr. David will succeed John Martin, who has served as Managing Partner at Baker Botts since 2019. After more than 39 years of service at the firm, Mr. Martin is subject to mandatory retirement at the end of 2023.

Baker Botts is coming off a record 2022 that included all-time highs in both revenue per lawyer (RPL) of $1.203 million, and profits per equity partner (PPEP) of $2.603 million. According to The American Lawyer, Baker Botts had the second-highest growth in PPEP of any Am Law 100 firm in 2022 and was one of only four Am Law 100 firms to achieve double-digit growth in RPL. During Mr. Martin’s tenure as Managing Partner, the firm sharpened its strategic direction and growth and continued its profitability improvement with a 56% increase in profits per equity partner and a 25% improvement in revenue per lawyer.
