Ana Mena, Client Development Manager, Global Projects & Energy, shares her perspective:

What advice would you give your younger self?

There’s so much to say here. But, most importantly, I would say pursue your passion and, if you ever need to compromise, find a way to continue pursuing it and make it part of your life in some way, shape or form. One of the hardest things in life is to live with regret. You only get one chance at life. Make sure you live it in a way that you will not look back and wish that you would’ve done things differently.

Never stop striving for more and seeking ways to learn and grow. Complacency is the most unattractive quality in a person.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

It is not so much advice, but more of a proverb that really rings true to this day for me. Tell me the company you keep, and I will tell you who you are. For me that translates into making sure we surround ourselves with people that reflect qualities, values, beliefs, goals etc. that match our own and enrich us. Surround yourself with people that enrich your life.

Did you have a mentor or role model that was instrumental in your career path?

My mother is my inspiration. Her drive and work ethic have set the standard for my life. She has been the driving force behind all my accomplishments. I am very fortunate to have her as a role model. The possibility of disappointing her in any way has always been a reason for me to strive for more, for excellence, and to stay on track. She’s my true North. Whether directly or indirectly, her hard work, fearlessness, and moxie have stayed with me in everything I do. The example she set for me, taking pride in her work; her courage, determination, independence, and persistence have guided me in every aspect of my life.
