Baker Botts’ latest contribution to the Commentaries on the Laws of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) was recognized at the LexisNexis Authors Awards held in Dubai on 13 October 2021.

Baker Botts’ Dubai based Partner Philip Punwar and Houston based Senior Associate Dustin Appel co-authored the official commentary on the DIFC Insolvency Law 2019. Prior commentaries authored by Philip Punwar have addressed the DIFC Contract Law, the DIFC Unfair & Implied Terms Law and the DIFC Electronic Transactions Law. The DIFC is now Dubai’s international dispute resolution hub. The DIFC’s own English language common law commercial courts were established in 2004.

In September 2021, the Government of Dubai announced that the DIFC Courts would soon be joined in the DIFC by a branch of the equally long-established Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC).
