The Continuing Evolution of Audit

Where are we in 2020?

With auditing firms under increasing scrutiny by the Public Accounting Oversight Board as well as their clients and the extension of audit opinions to internal controls, we will examine what changes have taken place, what to expect prospectively, and what audit committee members should consider to as part of best practices in the audit function.

Baker Botts partner, Josh Davidson, conducts a fireside chat with Phil Wedemeyer, who is presently a member of the Deloitte Audit Quality Advisory Council and over his career a partner at Arthur Andersen and Grant Thornton LLP, an officer at the PCAOB, and a member of the Auditing Standards Board of the AICPA. Mr. Wedemeyer has also been a director at a number of industrial and service companies. He will share valuable insights for audit committee members.

The third annual Baker Botts Board of Directors Forum took place on Thursday, January 16th at The Post Oak Hotel in Houston, Texas. The half day event, in a series of panel discussions and “fireside chats” led by board members, corporate professionals, advisors, and our attorneys, addressed hot topics and critical issues affecting Boards and Corporate Directors in 2020.
