Kim Owen

Kim Owen is an engineer-turned-attorney skilled in intellectual property matters relating to patent prosecution and pre-litigation disputes. She has helped clients with patent protection for a wide range of inventions covering technologies from networking communications to medical devices. Her experience includes helping clients determine the merits of alleged infringing activities and assisting clients with licensing negotiations. She has extensive experience working with standard-essential patents and negotiating FRAND licenses. Clients appreciate her responsive communication and her personable nature.

Kim has served as a teaching assistant for patent prosecution courses and intellectual property licensing courses at her alma mater, SMU Dedman School of Law. While attending law school, Kim worked as a scientific advisor for Baker Botts. During that time, she assisted attorneys with preparing and prosecuting patent applications.

Prior to attending law school, Kim worked as a licensed professional engineer in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
