Dr. Anna Mallam is a Patent Agent in the firm's Austin Office. Prior to joining Baker Botts, Dr. Mallam gained over 15 years of experience leading science research projects in an academic setting. Before her career in intellectual property, Dr. Mallam was a Research Fellow in the biological sciences at the University of Cambridge, UK, and more recently at The University of Texas at Austin.
Dr. Mallam's experience includes preparing and prosecuting chemical, life science, medical device and biotechnology patent applications in areas such as chemistry, biochemistry, biophysics, cell and molecular biology, immunology, genetics, and systems biology. Dr. Mallam also has experience conducting freedom-to-operate and patent portfolio analyses.
Dr. Mallam has authored and co-authored over 20 peer-reviewed journal articles, and has been awarded research grants by the University of Cambridge, UK, and the European Molecular Biology Organization to discover and characterize new molecular machines.
