Rachel Chaves is an attorney in the Intellectual Property practice of the firm's New York office. She has extensive experience with a variety of intellectual property matters including patent preparation and prosecution, worldwide portfolio management, licensing, mediation proceedings, and due diligence including clearance and invalidity assessments. Her practice encompasses a broad range of technology including chemistry, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and consumer products.
Ms. Chaves received her J.D. from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law, where she was a published author in the Federal Communications Law Journal, a managing editor on the Indiana Journal of Law and Social Equality, and a finalist and board member of the Sherman Minton Moot Court Competition. She also participated in patent externships at Cook Medical and the Purdue Research Foundation.
Prior to law school, she received her B.A. in Neuroscience and Chemistry from Smith College, during which she conducted neuroscience research at Rockefeller University and the University of California, Berkeley.
