Baker Botts Names Department Chairs for Corporate, IP and Litigation


DALLAS and WASHINGTON, D.C., August 11, 2023 – Baker Botts L.L.P., a leading international energy, technology and life sciences law firm, is pleased to announce that Christa Brown-Sanford has been named Chair of the Intellectual Property Department; Samantha Crispin has been named Chair of the Corporate Department; and Bridget Moore has been named Chair of the Litigation Department.

Based in Dallas, Ms. Brown-Sanford advises her clients on a number of different patent issues. With an electrical engineering background and keen business sense, she provides guidance on patent portfolio development, patent litigation, and patent licensing – particularly involving telecommunications, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, software, and other cutting-edge technologies. Ms. Brown-Sanford also assists companies in developing and managing their patent portfolios and generating revenue from their intellectual property assets through licensing campaigns. While leading licensing efforts for companies, she continues to provide counsel and advice on patent procurement and litigation exposure. An adjunct professor at SMU's Dedman School of Law, Ms. Brown-Sanford teaches patent prosecution and patent litigation and enforcement courses. She serves on the firm’s Executive Committee and Diversity and Inclusion Committee and was previously Co-Chair of the IP Department.

Also based in Dallas, Ms. Crispin is a seasoned M&A lawyer with over 24 years of experience helping publicly traded and privately held corporate clients and private equity funds in complex M&A, capital markets and strategic business transactions. Her clients include those in the media, technology, energy and energy tech, infrastructure and construction products industries. Strategic and private equity buyers and sellers rely on her counsel for M&A transactions, including corporate reorganizations, spin-offs and split-offs, joint ventures, strategic alliances, and opportunistic, distressed and/or bankruptcy-related acquisitions and dispositions. She also advises in public offerings, PIPEs and other capital raising transactions. Ms. Crispin is a Leader with the Center for Women in Law and previously served as the firmwide chair of the Baker Botts Global Women's Forum and as a member of the firm's Diversity & Inclusion Committee. She serves on the firm's Executive Committee and was previously Co-Chair of the Corporate Department.

Ms. Moore's practice focuses on securities enforcement, internal investigations and white collar defense. She is based in Washington, D.C. and represents companies, officers and directors, and audit committees in a wide range of government and internal investigations, including in connection with accounting restatements, allegations of financial fraud and whistleblower complaints. Prior to joining Baker Botts in 2003, Ms. Moore worked as a staff attorney in the Division of Enforcement at the SEC, where she conducted investigations involving the anti-fraud provisions of the federal securities laws, proxy violations, insider trading and various disclosure and reporting violations. In addition, Ms. Moore participated in trials centering on the fraudulent promotion of stocks, earning her the Enforcement Division Director's Award for Trial Work. Ms. Moore is a member of, and has held leadership positions in, the Women's White Collar Defense Association. She is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee and previously served as Co-Chair of the firm's Litigation Department.
