DUBAI, March 4, 2021 – Baker Botts L.L.P., a leading international law firm, announced that on March 1, the Dubai International Financial Centre (“DIFC”) Academy of Law awarded Baker Botts the title DIFC Academy Specialists in DIFC Insolvency Law following its authorship of the official commentary on the DIFC Insolvency Law 2019. Partner Philip Punwar and Senior Associate Dustin Appel authored the commentary for Vol. 4 of The Laws of the DIFC, which was published by LexisNexis and the DIFC Academy in late 2020. In 2017, the firm was recognized as the Academy’s specialist firm for the DIFC Contract Law, the DIFC Electronic Transactions Law and the DIFC Implied and Unfair Terms Law, following the  publication of its commentaries on these laws for Vol. 2 of The Laws of the DIFC.

An online award ceremony was held on March 1, 2021, after which Mr. Punwar and Mr. Appel presented a one-hour webinar on the Insolvency Law as part of a two-hour webinar marking the launch of the Academy’s most recent publications.
