Liz Flannery, Lisa Kattan, Kurt Pankratz, and Eliot Williams Newly Appointed Office Chairs in Baker Botts’ IP Department
NEW YORK, February 10, 2020 – Baker Botts L.L.P., a leading international technology, life sciences and energy law firm, announced today the appointment of four new office Chairs in its Intellectual Property Department, which now comprises over 200 IP lawyers and professionals world-wide with more than 220 technical degrees.
Effective March 1, Liz Flannery will become Chair of the Houston Intellectual Property Section, Lisa Kattan will become Chair in Washington, D.C., Kurt Pankratz will become Chair in Dallas, and Eliot Williams will become Chair in Palo Alto. Ms. Flannery, Ms. Kattan, Mr. Pankratz and Mr. Williams will succeed Roger Fulghum, Luke Pedersen, Doug Kubehl and Travis Thomas, respectively, all of whom will be taking on, or continuing with, other important leadership roles for the firm.

Brief bios of the new office heads are as follows:
Liz Flannery (Houston) is a full-service intellectual property lawyer with over 15 years of experience and, having a chemistry degree, works closely with large and small clients to protect their intellectual property interests, and to maximize the value of their technology assets, particularly in the life sciences sector. Her litigation experience spans across the country.
Lisa Kattan (Washington, D.C.) serves as the firm’s International Trade Commission Practice Group Chair. She is a Chambers-ranked, first-chair trial attorney with over 20 years’ experience who has been counsel in dozens of ITC proceedings, having joined the firm in 2016 after serving as Senior Investigative Attorney at the International Trade Commission (ITC) Office of Unfair Import Investigations for over five years.
Kurt Pankratz (Dallas) is a Chambers-ranked, first-chair trial lawyer who focuses his practice on patent and trade secret issues. Clients rely on his extensive experience to assist with intellectual property disputes, from pre-litigation investigations and negotiations through all phases of trial. He has handled many dozens of cases around the country and has obtained jury verdicts for both plaintiffs and defendants.
Eliot Williams (Palo Alto) has an electrical engineering degree and over 20 years of experience as a creative advocate and practical advisor in all aspects of intellectual property law. He has testified on patent law before the Judiciary Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives, and is one of the country’s leading experts before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board of the United States Patent Office.
