Baker Botts’ Omar Alaniz Selected as Emerging Leader in ABI’s “40 under 40”

DALLAS, November 6, 2017 – Baker Botts L.L.P, a leading international law firm, announced today that Baker Botts Financial Restructuring partner, Omar Alaniz has been selected as an emerging leader in American Bankruptcy Institute’s (ABI) inaugural “40 Under 40” ranking.

The initiative was launched this year to identify 40 of the top insolvency industry professionals under the age of 40. The “40 Under 40” winners are distinguished by professional achievements and service and were selected by a group of experienced professionals from ABI’s current leadership.

Mr. Alaniz represents debtors and creditors in chapter 11 cases and has substantial experience in bankruptcy-related litigation and appeals, including prevailing in oral argument before the Texas Supreme Court. In 2012, he received the “Sandra Day O’Connor Award for Professional Service” in the U.S. Supreme Court at an event hosted by Chief Justice John G. Roberts, Jr. In 2013, the National LGBT Bar Association recognized him as a “Best LGBT Lawyers Under 40.” 

Mr. Alaniz and other selected will be formally recognized at ABI’s 2017 Winter Leadership Conference, taking place Nov. 30-Dec. 2 at the La Quinta Resort & Club in Palm Springs, Calif.
