Macey Reasoner Stokes Named Chair of the State Bar of Texas Appellate Section

HOUSTON, September 24, 2015 - Baker Botts, a leading international law firm, announced today that Macey Reasoner Stokes, head of the firm’s appellate practice group, was elected Chair of the State Bar of Texas Appellate Section at the 2015 Annual Meeting. 

The Section has nearly 2000 members, including state and federal appellate judges, government lawyers, firm lawyers and solo practitioners. The Section provides services to its members, including a judicial history program that videotapes and archives interviews with appellate judges, extensive CLE offerings, diversity programs and appellate bench/bar liaison events around the state.

Macey has been board certified in civil appellate law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 1998. She has over 20 years of experience in a wide variety of civil appeals and extraordinary proceedings in state and federal courts. Furthermore, she has handled over 60 cases in the Texas Supreme Court and frequently argues before that court, including four times in the last year alone. Ms. Stokes also has significant experience handling Texas regulatory appeals.

Macey’s term as Chair will last until September 2016, at which time she will become President of the Texas Supreme Court Historical Society. She also serves as Secretary of the Bar Association of the Fifth Federal Circuit.
