DALLAS, Texas, February 11, 2008 -- Felicia Finston, a well-known employee benefits and executive compensation lawyer, joined Baker Botts L.L.P. today as a partner in the firm’s Tax Department. She will be based in Dallas. Over more than 20 years, she has built a practice covering benefit and compensation issues for Fortune 500 and other public and private companies.
Finston has been recognized by the Best Lawyers of America for the past six years. She is listed in Who’s Who Legal in Texas Employee Benefits Law (2007), as well as a Texas Super Lawyer designation in employee benefits/ERISA law (top 5 percent of lawyers in Texas) for the past four years (2004-2007). In 2007, she was designated as one of the top 50 women lawyers in Texas. She is a member of the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel, serves on the Board of Dallas Worldwide Benefits Organization and is on the Council of the Gulf Coast TE/GE Council.
Baker Botts L.L.P. conducts a leading employee benefits and executive compensation practice through more than 20 lawyers practicing in the area, assisted by others on a team basis. Finston will enhance this practice with her experience representing clients before the Internal Revenue Service, the U.S. Department of Labor and the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation in connection with employee benefit plan audits and under voluntary submission programs such as EPCRS and DFVC. Her practice regularly involves corporate transactions and governance matters, such as advising clients with respect to SEC disclosure and filing issues, shareholder approval issues and proxy disclosure requirements involving compensatory arrangements. She also regularly advises clients on health plan regulatory matters, including HIPAA compliance issue and Medicare coordination of benefit matters.

Prior to joining Baker Botts, Finston served with law firms in Texas and Arizona. Most recently she was with Vinson & Elkins in Dallas.
Finston earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Arizona State University (with honors), a Masters of Science degree from the University of Utah (with honors), and her law degree from the University of New Mexico (with honors).
