Assistant to Solicitor General Joins Baker Botts Washington Office


Baker Botts L.L.P. is pleased to announce that Jeffrey A. Lamken will be joining the firm as a litigation partner in the Washington, D.C. office, where he will head up the Supreme Court and federal appellate practice. Most recently, Mr. Lamken was Assistant to the Solicitor General in the Office of the Solicitor General of the United States.

During his tenure at the Solicitor General’s office, Mr. Lamken argued 15 cases before the United States Supreme Court. In addition, he has written briefs on behalf of the United States in a variety of cases, including administrative law, antitrust, bankruptcy, civil rights, criminal procedure, intellectual property, and search and seizure law. Prior to working with the Office of the Solicitor General, Mr. Lamken was in private practice and focused on civil litigation and telecommunications law.

Mr. Lamken received his J.D. in 1990 from Stanford Law School, where he received numerous academic awards and was Senior Editor of the Stanford Law Review, and his B.A., magna cum laude, in political science from Haverford College in 1986. After receiving his J.D., Mr. Lamken clerked for the Honorable Alex Kozinski of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the Honorable Sandra Day O’Connor on the U.S. Supreme Court.
