Never before has a state gone so far and had such a long reach to protect consumer data privacy: the California Privacy Rights Act of 2020 (“CPRA”), a ballot initiative also known as Proposition 24, passed at the polls on November 3, 2020, and amends the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (“CCPA”) to create an omnibus privacy regulation in California.
Baker Botts Partner Matthew Baker and Special Counsel Cynthia Cole will join Jim Dempsey of the Berkeley Center for Law & Technology ("BCLT") to discuss the significant requirements of the CPRA, and the steps businesses with operations, or customers, located in California should take to prepare for the next wave of privacy compliance. Program panelists will discuss the implications of the CPRA on your business and will provide practical takeaways to prepare before the CPRA takes effect on January 1, 2023.
