Baker Botts Webinar: An Energy Lawyer's Guide to Litigating Against or Alongside the Federal Government
Baker Botts will be hosting a webinar on February 13, 2020, presented by three of our newest partners:
- Houston partner, George Fibbe, who recently served as Deputy General Counsel for Litigation, Regulation & Enforcement for the U.S. Department of Energy;
- San Francisco partner, Lily Chinn, who previously served as an environmental defense trial litigator at the U.S. Department of Justice; and
- Washington partner, Jeff Wood, who recently served as the Acting Assistant Attorney General for Environment and Natural Resources at the U.S. Department of Justice.
Our presenters will discuss legal context and strategies relevant to energy sector interests engaged in litigation involving the federal government. The presentation will focus on litigating on the side of federal agencies (such as when defending permits or regulatory reforms) and against the government (such as in environmental claims disputes or enforcement matters).
The panel will share practice tips concerning discovery matters, forum selection, appellate strategies, remedies, and settlement approaches, among other topics. This program will also be informative for transactional attorneys who may need to counsel clients on business risks arising in energy litigation disputes.
