The U.S. Supreme Court Term coming to an end in June has been another busy year for developments in intellectual property law. All told, the Supreme Court took up six IP cases this Term addressing several important issues, including cases regarding the Leahy-Smith America Invents Act, copyright law, and the effect of bankruptcy on IP licenses.

What is the impact of these decisions and what do they all mean to the big picture for companies with IP cases to defend or IP rights to manage? What is the effect on IP litigation and transactional issues moving forward? What are the cases and issues the Court could take up next Term?

With the current Term nearing its conclusion, our panel of former Supreme Court and Federal Circuit clerks and in-house counsel will take a hard look at Supreme Court IP decisions. We will also examine other IP cases to watch in 2019, and the current composition of the Court.
