Global War on Terror Memorial Foundation

Washington

Baker Botts is proud to support and sponsor the Global War on Terror Memorial Foundation’s inaugural fundraising event on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 in Washington, DC.

On Friday, August 18, 2017, President Trump signed into law a bipartisan bill authorizing the Global War on Terror Memorial Foundation to oversee the fundraising, design and construction of a national memorial honoring our nation’s service members and others killed in Iraq, Afghanistan and other post-9/11 military campaigns in support of the Global War on Terrorism. The memorial will also honor the sacrifices of their families and those who supported our nation’s longest war. Over the course of a year, Baker Botts’ Washington office advised the non-profit Foundation and its Board of Directors as it guided the effort for the memorial’s approval. The firm will continue to advise the Board which is tasked with raising the funds for construction.

Several Baker Botts lawyers who advised the Foundation also served during the Global War on Terrorism. The attorneys working on this matter include (all in Washington unless noted) Brendan Dignan (Senior Associate, Corporate; Army veteran), Anthony Scalice (Senior Associate, Government Contracts; Air Force veteran), Gus Biggio (Associate, Corporate; Marine Corps veteran – Dubai office), Susan Toumanian (Associate, Corporate), Stephanie Jeane (Associate, Employment Benefits) and Peter Farrell (Associate, Tax).
