Overview

Brian Hausman practices in all areas of intellectual property law, including patent litigation, patent prosecution, post-grant review proceedings, and due diligence reviews. Brian has extensive experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications for several Fortune 100 companies covering a variety of different industries. In addition, Brian actively manages and develops client patent portfolios for coverage in the U.S. and internationally. He has technical knowledge in areas including oilfield equipment and drilling processes, HVAC systems, FinTech and other financial services, telecommunications and network communications, and manufacturing processes.

Litigation

  • Represented an oilfield services company in a patent infringement action in the District of Wyoming involving patents relating to aggregate/proppant delivery systems. Instituted an inter partes review of the patents related to aggregate/proppant delivery systems.
  • Represented a metals and chemical distribution company in a breach of software agreement in the state of Connecticut involving a license to use a custom commodity trading risk management system.

  • IP risk assessment in support of corporate acquisition of a company performing MWD to determine properties of surrounding formations.
  • IP risk assessment in support of corporate acquisition of a company providing proppant for hydraulic fracturing operations.
  • IP risk assessment in support of corporate acquisition of a company providing roofing materials.

  • Patent portfolio management and development for a subsea wellhead and connectors manufacturing company.
  • Patent portfolio management and development for an industrial power distribution manufacturing company.
  • National and international patent prosecution for: a multinational oilfield services company, a multinational telecommunications equipment provider, a multinational financial service provider, and a national HVAC manufacturing company.
