Summary

Yong Chen assists clients with a variety of intellectual property matters, including patent prosecution, due diligence and patent litigation.

Dr. Chen's practice focuses on helping clients develop and protect their intellectual property assets in the United States and abroad. He has participated in a number of patent litigation matters involving pharmaceuticals, software, telecommunications and semiconductors. Dr. Chen has also performed validity/infringement opinion work and patent due diligence investigations. He has prepared and prosecuted patents in a variety of technology areas, including chemicals, chemical engineering, pharmaceuticals, biotech, bioinformatics and computer algorithms.

Prior to his legal career, Dr. Chen trained in various technical disciplines including polymer engineering, chemistry, and computer science. His Ph.D. research concerning computational studies of polymers and biomolecules resulted in publication of seven peer-reviewed articles, as well as many presentations and meeting proceedings at various scientific conferences.

In the summer of 2005, Dr. Chen served as a law clerk to the Honorable Richard Edelman of the Fourteenth Court of Appeals of the State of Texas.
