Summary

Russ Crain is experienced in all areas of patent law and practice, including patent litigation and other enforcement procedures, patent portfolio development and licensing, preparing and prosecuting patent applications and overall patent strategy counseling.

Mr. Crain has litigated in federal courts in Arizona, Arkansas, California, Delaware, Ohio and Texas; and he is actively litigating in the Central District of California and the Eastern District of Texas. He has represented clients in patent, trademark and trade secret lawsuits in the telecommunications, software, medical device and manufacturing industries.

During his time with Baker Botts, Mr. Crain has been seconded on multiple occasions to serve as in-house counsel to firm clients for extended periods. In his role as in-house counsel, he has been responsible for managing intellectual property litigation, developing patent programs and assisting with software and IP licenses.

Before becoming an attorney, Mr. Crain worked as an engineer in the aerospace industry. His work in that field included software development and testing, system design and integration and process control, all in support of aircraft component assembly, composite manufacturing and sheet metal fabrication.
