Dr. Amy Song's practice focuses on patent due diligence, patent litigation, and patent procurement in life science. Dr. Song's experience includes conducting intellectual property due diligence, patentability, infringement and freedom to operate assessments on diverse technologies, such as therapeutic antibodies, cell culture media, viral vaccines, and medical devices, and preparing and prosecuting those patents. Dr. Song's experience also includes assisting in multiple aspects of patent litigation relation to inter partes review (IPR) proceedings, Hatch-Waxman litigations, and Federal Circuit appeals concerning patents on cell vaccines, small molecule drugs, and injectable iron complexes.

Prior to joining Baker Botts, Dr. Song conducted postdoctoral research at Yale University School of Medicine in the Department of Immunobiology. Her research focused on understanding the molecular and cellular mechanism of aging in impairing the innate immune system and contributing to the development of cardiovascular disease.

Her Doctorate research at Oregon State University was to understand the combined effects of food antioxidants, phytochemicals, and exercise on DNA damage and oxidative stress. She also received medical and clinical training from Peking University, and worked in an NIH-sponsored HIV/AIDS research project in China. Dr. Song has co-authored more than 10 scientific and legal articles.
